Homemade Almond Butter
Whenever I've tried almond butter from the store its always tasted kinda meh to me. So, I decided to make my own, and I find I like it as much as peanut butter. Maybe more honestly. Anyways here's my recipe: Ingredients: 2 cups almonds* 1/2 cup coconut oil 1/2 tsp sea salt You'll need a food processor for this, and you blend these together. You'll need to let it run for a minute, than it'll usually get stuck, so I move everything around with a rubber spatula and let it run for another minute and so on till it is fully blended. If your almonds still have the brown skin on them expect it to look speckled like in the picture above, it tastes the same anyway. *we always soak our almonds (and walnuts and pecans as well) in a bowl of water with 1 T of sea salt. This neutralizes the phytic acid and makes it easier to digest. You can than put the almonds or other nuts on a sheet and into a dehydrator or oven on a low heat (not more than 200°)
